Questions before booking

Can we bring a pet?

Unfortunately, our insurance does not allow us to welcome pets to our homes. We love them, but they are no-nos.

"Even though our Fido is small, housebroken, and really good?"

We would love him too, but, unfortunately, no.

Can we book or pay online?

I am on a soapbox for this one. With homes as big as ours and groups as large as yours, we would rather speak directly with all of our guests prior to a reservation. We know that it's faster and easier to do it the other way and the nice online booking folks tell us that we could raise our revenue if we joined the modern times. We don't want to and though we may be driven in that direction someday, for today, we want to work with you directly. I'll answer your questions, book your house, take your payment, and help you in any way as we go through this process together. We're working on some nifty gadgets to speed up the delivery of our invoices to you and we are working on applying a payment button to allow you to enter your credit card numbers directly, but we will still be the group that offers personal booking. Off my soapbox now.

Can we invite people to join us for a party/dinner/brunch?

The homes are large and lovely, but we generally limit groups in the house to the sleeping capacity. Open House type events are counted based on the total number of people coming and going. If you would like to plan something, please ask us in advance of making your reservation so that we may work with you to determine if it may work.

Can we check in early or drop off our luggage before 4 p.m.?

This one is really hard for us because we always want to accommodate our guests. Especially during the busy seasons of winter and summer, it is virtually impossible for us to honor this request while we are getting the house ready for you. Our housekeeping insurance requires that we not clean while guests are in the house, so they will have to stop and leave if someone in your party arrives early.....even if the house isn't ready. It is very difficult to schedule the cleaners to return to the house to finish cleaning, so if you would like everything fresh and ready for you, please respect our check in time and ask your guests to do the same, unless prior arrangements were made.

Are there spices or coffee in the houses?

While we don't stock spices, salt, sugar, coffee, or filters in the houses, they are sometimes in the pantry. You are welcome to use anything you find, but if there is something you really need, you may want to bring it or plan to buy it at one of our local grocers.

Are there games in the houses?

Remember when you were a kid and the family Monopoly game had been around for awhile? When you went to play, there was only the Boot, the Dog, and some shredded dollar bills in the box? Sometime later, you would open the Scrabble game and find the Iron and the Top Hat from the Monopoly Game, but no E or R tiles and someone had written on the backside of all of the Ys? That's what happens at our homes. If there is a game that you specifically like, please bring it with you.

Do we have to stock our own propane for the grill?

Goodness no. Many of the houses use natural gas and for the ones that don't, we have back up propane tanks available. Please call if you run out during your visit.

Is there a shuttle service from the airport?

Yes. Try Peak 1 Express and let them know that Mountain Clover Homes sent you.

Is there shuttle service or taxi service around the county?

There is a wonderful shuttle service called the Summit Stage that is free and can easily get you from place to place in the county. Private shuttles and taxi service are available on a very very limited basis and unless you have planned something in advance, don't count on being able to find one. Use of a private vehicle makes sense at all of our homes and is necessary for our Keystone properties.

Under Bed Configurations, it says One King or Two Twins. What does that mean and can guests feel the gap when the beds are pushed together?

I always answer this way. When we make up two twin beds into a king bed for you prior to arrival, we strip the beds, pull them together, put a foam pillow into the crack, pull the beds together with a mattress pad and make up the bed as a King. Most people don't notice the transition. If you have an Uncle Phil who has to duck when he walks through doorways and is sometimes enjoyed by all of the children making a ring around him when they play, he will notice it. We recommend that he be assigned a room with a full time King or Queen.

Do we have to stock our own propane for the grill?

Goodness no. Many of the houses use natural gas and for the ones that don't, we have back up propane tanks available. Please call if you run out during your visit.

Are the homes wheelchair accessible?

Two of our homes, The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines and The Little Mountain Lodge, were ADA compliant as of 2005. We no longer maintain compliancy because they are used as private rental homes. However, you'll find larger doorways and a room with a WC accessible bathroom (raised commode, roll up sink, and roll in shower) in each of these houses. Do the homes have bikes available? We don't, but have plenty of options in the area: Dillon Lake Dillon Bike Rentals Keystone Norse Sports Rental Keystone Sports Breckenridg Elevation Ski and Bike Mountain View Sports

Our group size has grown, can we use sleeping bags, sleep on sofas, or park an RV in the driveway for additional capacity?

Unfortunately, no. We can assist you with finding suitable overflow lodging for your extra guests. Please note that if there is a significant increase in your group size, you may find that you are over the capacity of the house and your stay may be classified as an 'event'. Please contact us and we can talk through the options.

Is there a local gym or rec center?

There are rec centers on either side of the county that offer state of the art work out facilities and so much more. They offer day passes and punch cards. There are also large indoor pools with water slides at both places, so bring the kids! Breckenridge The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Center Dillon and Keystone The Town of Silverthorne Recreation Center

Our kids want a pool. Are there any in the area?

If you rent either The House at Keystone Ranch or The Meadow House at Keystone Ranch, you are welcome to use the Ranch Pool in the summertime. In the winter, or if you are in one of our other homes, you can find amazing pools (with fantastic facilities and water slides) on both sides of the county. Breckenridge The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Center Dillon and Keystone The Town of Silverthorne Recreation Center

Where can we play tennis

If you are staying at The House at Keystone Ranch or The Meadow House at Keystone Ranch, there is a tennis court available for our guests. The entrance is located on Ranch House Drive (near the Meadow House) and it is open to residents and their guests. For the other homes, there are two rec centers, one in Silverthorne and one in Breckenridge with tennis facilities.

We would like to get married at a private home. Can we have our wedding at one of your houses?

Thank you for asking! A few of our homes can handle very small weddings. Since weddings tend to grow as the wedding date approaches, we ask that you consider carefully. Many of our couples prefer to get married offsite and house their wedding party or their families at one of our large homes. The Little Mountain Lodge - maximum 45 people for an event with approval in advance, a fee may apply. This house is better suited for an outdoor event. The Lodge at Carolina in the Pines - maximum 40 people for an event with approval in advance, a fee may apply. This house is better suited for an indoor event. The Meadow House at Keystone Ranch - maximum 35 people for an event wtih approval in advance, a fee may apply. Weddings can only be hosted on the deck or inside the home.

Is there a Costco or a Sams Club nearby?

We have neither of these stores in Summit County, but you will pass both of them on the way up the mountain from the airport. Take the Wadsworth exit South about 30 minutes from the airport ~ you'll find the Sams Club on the right and the Costco on the left. :)

Where can we get a marriage license in Summit County?

You can get your marriage license in advance of your wedding at 208 Lincoln Avenue in Breckenridge. Visit this website for information:

http://www.co.summit.co.us/122/Marriage-LicensesStep

Marriage Licenses expire if they are not used within 35 days from the date of issuance from our office, so come in to apply no earlier than 35 days before your ceremony. The Clerk & Recorder's Office is not open on weekends. If you have planned a weekend ceremony, you’ll need to come into the office prior to your ceremony during the week. We are unable to backdate Marriage Licenses.

Application & Payment
Give yourselves the better part of an hour when planning to come in to apply for your Marriage License. Save some time and fill out the application at http://www.co.summit.co.us/122/Marriage-Licenses COMPLETELY. Both parties to the marriage must be present at the time of application with valid photo ID that displays date of birth such as: Driver License (any State), Military ID, Passport, State-issued ID card. We cannot accept Birth Certificates, Baptismal Certificates or Foreign Consular IDs. You do NOT need to bring/show us your Social Security card, but you will need to submit your Social Security Number on your application. Cost is $30 for the application and to receive to the License. Certified copies cost an additional $3.00 each.

Each situation is unique, here are some “what-if’s”:
If one person can’t make it to the application, fill out this Absentee Affidavit. Important: have it notarized and bring it into the office with a clear copy of the absent applicant’s ID.
If you’ve been married before, we’ll need some additional information. Check out the application for exactly what information we’ll need. If you've been Divorced multiple times, or Divorced and Widowed, please only provide us with the most recent event information.
If you don’t have a Social Security Number, you’ll need to fill out a Social Security Number Affidavit and submit it at the time of application.
You want certified copies: we highly recommend purchasing at least three certified copies at the time of application for $3.00 each, especially if you plan on changing your name. You can always purchase more at a later time. When it comes time to pay for your License, we’ll give you the opportunity to purchase some.

We accept cash, checks with photo ID and debit/credit cards. Please note there is an additional convenience charge for debit/credit cards. Get Married!
How you want to solemnize your marriage is your choice. Staff can provide you with a sample of how to fill out your Certificate at the time of application. If you require assistance in how to take the other party’s last name in your signature, ask a staff member. There are three different routes:
 • Civil Ceremony: Overseen by a judge, retired judge, magistrate or another official certified to oversee and solemnize marriages. To set up an appointment with a Summit County Court judge, you’ll need to make an appointment in advance by calling (970) 453-2272 or visiting the Clerk of Courts window at the Justice Center at 501 North Park Avenue during business hours. The judge will perform your ceremony and sign the Marriage Certificate.
 • Religious Ceremony: Overseen by any ordained individual. Click here for a list of Officiants that we know of, or you can contact a local church of your choice. The Officiant will perform your ceremony and sign the Marriage Certificate. If you have an Ordained Officiant of your choice from outside of Colorado, there are no requirements/paperwork/certifications for your Marriage License application with our office. They do not need to be present at the time of application, we will provide the applicants (the couple) with a sample to show the Officiant how to sign the Colorado Marriage License properly.
 • Self-Solemnization: Overseen by the parties to the marriage themselves, without an Officiant or Judge. This can be explained in further detail when you arrive to apply for your License.

When the Marriage License has been filled out completely and signed, return it to the Clerk & Recorder's office to be recorded. You can mail it back to us or return it by mail. Please note that we do not accept U.S. Mail to our physical address, only UPS or FedEx. If utilizing U.S. Mail, please mail it to our P.O. Box. By Colorado law, you have 63 days to return the License to our office. We will record the License, make any certified copies, and return your original License to you. We'll remind you upon recordation, but in case you mail your License back for recordation: your original Marriage License and Certificate (all one page) are irreplaceable. Utilize certified copies for legal needs/mailing off for name changes - we highly discourage mailing your original for these purposes as you may not get it back from whomever you mailed it to.
