WHITEWATER RAFTING

BOATING ON LAKE DILLON and KAYAKING IN THE BLUE RIVER

Enjoy the tranquility of boating on the Lake or Kayaking the Blue River. The Lake Dillon Marina offers a multiude of activities, including boat rental. The Breckenridge Recreation Center offers kayaking classes with certified instructors for beginners and intermediates, including solid basic skills and rolling classes in the indoor pool. The Breckenridge whitewater park or nearby Arkansas or Colorado rivers to experience whitewater rapids. You can also bring your kayak to Lake Dillon for a more peaceful paddle.

HORSEBACK RIDING

A great way to experience Summit County is on horseback. Take a guided trail ride or even a dinner trail ride and enjoy some down home cooking at the Keystone Stables or Breck Stables. You can also relax and take a ride in a horse-drawn wagon. Kids can experience riding around the corral with Pony rides.

FLY FISHING

Take a day on the river and learn the graceful skills of fly fishing with experienced guides. Clinics are offered to teach the basics of tying a fly and casting.

HIKING

There are endless hiking opportunities in Summit County ranging from shorter easier hikes on town trails and various local hiking trails offering a variety of terrain to more strenuous hikes that reach the summit of Colorado’s 14,000ft peaks. BIKING

Colorado is home to hundreds of miles of world-class single track, amazing downhill and cross-country trails, as well as several Mountain Bike Parks. If road biking is more of your thing, Summit County offers an incredible local Bike Path System, in addition to the miles of local alpine roads that wind through the mountains and over passes. Families will love riding around town or check out our county-wide bike path that connects Breck, Frisco and Dillon!

ROCK CLIMBING

Summit County is fortunate to have innumerable rocks, faces, cliffs, and other features that make it a prime alpine rock climbing and bouldering area. There are also indoor rock climbing walls at the recreation centers if the weather is not cooperating or you want to hone your skills before heading outdoors.

RECREATION CENTERS

There are two state of the art Recreation facilities in Summit County to entertain all of your fitness and recreation needs. One in Breckenridge and one in Silverthorne. Both facilities have extensive weight rooms and fitness equipment, indoor pools with slides, gymnasiums, tennis and racquetball courts, rock climbing walls, indoor tracks, fitness classrooms and mens/womens and family locker rooms. Classes are offered ranging from, aerobics, cycling, weight training and yoga to swimming, tennis, kayaking, rock climbing and much more. Daycare options and day camps offer children a wide of variety of activities as well.

SKATE PARKS

There are three skateboard parks located in Summit County: Breckenridge, Frisco and Silverthorne. Each park has unique features from ramps, bowls, rails and more. Skateboarding lessons are offered as well, for those starting out or looking to improve his or her skills.

BOATING AND FISHING ON LAKE DILLON

The Lake Dillon Marina is a full service marina that grants access to the beautiful Dillon Reservoir. Take sailing lessons or rent a boat and spend the day on the lake. Take advantage of the Charter boat fishing and scenic boat cruises available for the whole family. When you are done stop by the Tiki Bar and Restaurant and catch the sunset over the lake.

ATV/JEEP TOURS

HISTORIC TOURS AND MUSEUMS

Take a guided walking tour of Breckenridge and learn the rich history of the old western mining town that grew into a year round destination. Stop by the town museums and information centers to see a glimpse of what life was like back in the mining days.  You can even venture into the Country Boy Mine, an authentic underground gold mine and take a guided tour to learn more about Colorado’s mining history. When your tour is completed your guide will teach you how to pan for gold, and you can take your riches home with you.

INDOOR ICE SKATING

Check out the two NHL-sized rinks at the Steven C. West Ice Arena in Breckenridge. The indoor rink is open year-round and boasts bleacher seating, locker rooms, skate rentals and a proshop. The outdoor rink is open mid-September through mid-April and has an indoor warming facility. The Ice Arena hosts many groups and activities, including daily public skating sessions, public hockey sessions, youth & adult hockey leagues and learn to skate classes.

You don’t want to miss all of the activities available at the Peak 8 Fun Park! The SuperSlide Alpine Slide, Super Putt, Amaze’n Breckenridge, Climbing Wall, Spin Cycle, Chairlift Rides, Bounce House and Sky Fly Power Trampoline will keep you and the kids entertained for hours. RIVERWALK CENTER, BRECKENRIDGE

The newly renovated Riverwalk Center is a performance venue located in the heart of Breckenridge and is the home of two top-notch orchestras, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Breckenridge Music Institute in the summer. For fun, music, dancing, juggling and magic for the kids check out the Kidz Calliope Concerts, also performed at the Riverwalk Center.

MOVIE THEATRES

 

 

Summit County offers two distinct movie theatre choices. Our state of the art theatre, with stadium style seating and newly released films is located in Dillon, directly above City Market. However, for a one of a kind experience you won't want to miss the Speakeasy Theatre in Breckenridge. Go back in time to the Speakeasy, where they show a mix of independent films and newly released movies, complete with red velvet seats. There is also an art gallery in the lobby showcasing local artist’s work.
